Tamiya Asia Cup Malaysian Qualifying Series 2010 Round 4
Date: July 25, 2010 (Sunday)
Venue: RC Connections track, Glenmarie
Classes: Super Touring, M-Chassis, FF-03, Formula 1
Organisers: Tamiya Underground

I'm a year late, but I finally finished building my M-05 and was eager to enter it in a race, and what better place than at a Tamiya Asia Cup qualifier.

I was delighted to find out that the heats were ten minutes long.

Formula 1 is still going strong with 18 participants.
Time to look lively. Did everyone stay up late to clean ball bearings?
No TAC race would be complete without Leonard Kee as MC.
It's always nice to put faces to the names I read on the forums. Nice meeting you, Kamal Myvi.
You know you are hardcore when the organiser puts out 4 categories and you enter yourself in 3. My hat goes off to "Inspector" Lai and Sonny.
The day started out nice and sunny. Someone even put their car out to dry the tire sauce.
And this is why you should never complain about the Malaysian heat. Before everyone got to finish their 3rd heat, it started to rain. A few M-chassis drivers were game for some very wet mains.
You cannot recycle styrofoam boxes but if you're clever, like Rosaidi here, you might be able to use them a 2nd time before throwing them out.
In the end, even the wet runs didn't happen as the computer systems (two of them) failed. The qualifying results were taken as the final results for this round.
More pics from the day.
Hatchbacks were very popular for the FF-03 class.
My long wheelbase M-05 was very steady and suited my driving style (slow). The Sweep tires and inserts (40R front, 25R rear, pink inserts all around) gave a very balanced amount of grip. I did 29 laps on the first run, and was 10 seconds away from squeezing in another lap. I tried to push a little harder in the 2nd heat and flipped the car once and spun it a few times, so ended up 10 seconds slower. I told myself I would be happy to do 30 laps by the end of the day and I did that on the 3rd heat. This put me into the lower half of the B (and last) main but that's not bad considering I hadn't been to a proper track in months (nor ever, with this car and these tires).

(Race results coming soon).
