KLGP RC Race 2009
Date: March 27, 28 and 29, 2009 (Friday, Saturday and Sunday)
Venue: Titiwangsa RC track
Classes: Touring, M-chassis 2WD, M-chassis 4WD
Organisers: Tamiya Underground
I wasn't actively racing during this period but since RC racing legends Atsushi Hara and David Jun were in town,
I dragged the wife and kid with me to meet them during qualifying day (Saturday) and take some pics.

I heard the Formula-1 cars will have their own class in the Tamiya Asia Cup this year.

The pits.

"I know the secret to Titiwangsa traction..."

The driver's stand.

David Jun - racing legend, former world champion, and according to my wife, the most handsome face to grace an RC mag.
Like everyone will tell you, David is very friendly. Here's one with his youngest fans.
I just had to clear this up with Atsushi Hara...
Hara is his family name. Atsushi is his given name but most people call him Hara (and he's too nice to correct them).
The Cyclone. Still winning.
His body shells were Acura and Mazda 6 for touring and Mazda 6 for M-chassis.
The question on everyone's lips - "What car was Hara driving?" Answer: the HPI Cup Racer, just released last week.
It has adjustable width, and wheelbase, several body mount positions plus standup or laydown front shocks options to fit
various M-chassis body shells. It set the pace the whole weekend.
The brick Lipo wouldn't fit in the battery holder so Atsushi left the whole battery holder assembly out of his car.
David is pretty handy with a helicopter too.

Some more pics.

Update:
Final results can be found at My Laps but to cut a long story short,
Atsushi Hara dominated touring cars and 4WD M-chassis while David Jun outclassed everyone in 2WD M-chassis and took 2nd place in touring.
